Alžbeta Vrzgula

is a theatre director and playwright born in 1992.

She studied at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. During her studies, she completed internships in Poitiers, France and in Brno, Czech republic. ​


As assistant director, she worked with Czech director David Jařab on his Slovak productions (2015-2017).

In 2022 she was an intern for Rimini Protokoll and participated on preparation of the projects Utopolis Lausanne, Conference of the Absent Paris and URBAN NATURE Mannheim.

In 2017, she was one of the founding members of independent professional theatre Uhol_92 based in Bratislava. From then on Vrzgula writes plays and stages them not only for Uhol_92 but for other theatres too, while seasonly forking in festival production.


In 2022 she received DOSKY award for her play Humiliated and Bloodthirsty.

In 2024 she received Tatra banka Foundation Art Award as The Young Artist up to 35 years in category Theatre for writing and staging her play Toni Wolff realises she lost millions.
